Ryan ‘The Irish Outlaw’ Coyne successfully returned to the ring this past Saturday at the O’Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University in Springfield, MO scoring a first round knock out of former world title challenger Jonathan Corn (47-22).
Coyne had no intentions of making it a long night, and immediately blitzed Corn, a late substitute for James Crawford who withdrew from the fight on only a few days notice. Corn attempted to stand his ground, but found the little success as Coyne put him on the canvas twice in the opening stanza before referee Mike England stepped in to halt the action that saw Coyne laying heavy lumber on Corn as he absorbed punishment against the ropes.
With the win Ryan moves his record to 18-0 and isn’t looking for any vacation time. Team Irish Outlaw plans to have Ryan back in the ring in December in a high profile bout.
This bout served as litmus test for Ryan as he makes the move down to the light heavy weight division. Ryan entered the bout at the lightest weight of his career at 182lbs and has grand designs on shaking up the light heavy weight division.
The bout also served as Ryan’s first bout under the tutelage of new head trainer Michael Moorer who has made serious changes in Ryan’s game. Michael, the first Southpaw heavyweight champion, is revamping the Irish Outlaw’s game from top to bottom, but he believes that he has only begun to scratch the surface as he prepares Ryan for a world title fight in the very near future.
Ryan’s bout served as the co-main event on the card dubbed Champions Collide- A Fight for the Kids that benefited sick children.
Team Irish Outlaw would like to extend a big thank you to Complete Nutrition for their role in sponsoring the bout and helping enable Ryan to transition into a new weight class where he will be an immediate presence on the scene.
Irish Outlaw Boxing also thanks Dales Harley Davidson of Mount Vernon, IL as the newest member of the team!
Big plans are in the fold for Ryan as he pursues the light heavy weight championship of the world! Stay tuned for the announcement of Ryan’s next bout here at irishoutlawboxing.com.
